Born and bred in Hobart, Tasmania, a passion for food and wine has always been in Penny's blood. In 2001, she moved to South Australia to study winemaking at Adelaide University.
In her final year of study, Penny completed her first vintage in the cellar at Petaluma, and after graduating as Dux of Oenology in 2004, stayed on in the Adelaide Hills to work her way through the ranks of Petaluma.
Penny became a keen advocate of the cool climate region and enjoyed a number of years on the committee for the Regional Adelaide Hills Wine Show.
During her nine and a half years at Petaluma, Penny completed vintages in Oregon and China and travelled through parts of France, Germany, Scotland, Vietnam, India and the UK. Travelling is very much a passion for Penny, and Spain and Italy head the list for her next adventure.
Penny is still passionate about food, and attempts to maintain some form of fitness with a (relaxed!) combination of pilates, boxing and the occasional walk.
After 13 years in South Australia, Penny was very excited to return to her home state of Tasmania where she joined the Bay of Fires Winemaking team to become the Eddystone Point winemaker and shortly after stepped up to the position of Wine Maker/ Manager for Bay of Fires.
